Out of the boxPer the maker: walking, squatting, lunging, gestures, dances and a backflip from its preloaded motion stack, with three teleoperation modes (a Bluetooth controller, upper-body following in VR, and whole-body teleoperation). No customer unit has shipped outside China, and no independent hands-on review exists yet, so none of this is confirmed.Per the page, six reference behaviours come pre-loaded (variable-speed walk, walking on rough ground and slopes, one-leg kick, get up after a fall, dance, balance on the cart), the bundled gamepad drives walking and turning with no configuration, and the face display is programmable. No customer unit has shipped, so none of this is independently confirmed.
Development accessOpen source under GPL-3.0 on GitHub (Zeroth-OpenBridge): the full-body CAD snapshot of 12 Oct 2026 and the electrical topology are public, and the Simulation Hub documents a Python SDK for IMU and motors (MIT, position and speed modes) over ROS 2. The Skill Hub ('Coming soon') and most of the Simulation Hub are still empty, and Zeroth's blog says the SDK and web simulator are a closed beta for its Bridge Builder program. The research paper's project page says code will follow the paper's acceptance.Python API for high-level behaviours plus the low-latency 'Micro Robot Spine SDK' (the page also calls it the 'M1 Spine SDK') for direct motor commands. ROS 2 is supported 'at the message-bus level'. Policies trained in PyTorch export to ONNX and deploy through what the page calls the 'Reinforced Imitation Framework'; reference workflows are described for Isaac Gym and MuJoCo. Custom models run on a 10 TOPS NPU through the ONNX toolchain. The page markets 'Fully open-source deployment' with 'full source code included', but the linked GitHub repository (ZerothOpenBridge/Zeroth-M1_edu_combo) returned 404 and that organization, created on 13 Oct 2026, had no public repositories on 17 Oct 2026, so the open-source claim cannot be checked yet.
Best forResearchers and developers who want a low-cost, open-hardware biped for whole-body control and motion-imitation work, and who can wait for a first batch whose software is still being published.Developers and students who want to practise humanoid RL locomotion (sim-to-real) at desk scale and can wait for a first-batch product whose documentation is still being published.
