Grippers, not dexterous hands
Each 7-DoF arm ends in a parallel-jaw gripper with fast actuation (open/close as quick as ~0.15 s) rated for up to 5 kg payload per arm at horizontal reach. These are two-finger pinch grippers, not dexterous multi-finger hands, so tasks requiring in-hand dexterity or finger articulation are out of scope. No dexterous-hand upgrade is publicly listed or priced.

Reality check
It is a superb teleoperated dual-arm platform, but you are buying a research/deployment tool that learns tasks from your own VR demonstrations, not a robot that walks in and does chores by itself, and there is no public price or consumer purchase path.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
You cannot order the S1 today: it is b2b only.
Sold to enterprises and integrators through Astribot's direct sales and cooperation-order model, not a public checkout. Astribot began delivering thousands of its cable-driven units at the end of 2025 via industrial and commercial service orders (for example a reported thousand-unit order with Thundersoft and cultural-tourism/hotel deployments). There is no consumer purchase path and no published unit price. Third-party "buy online" listings for the S1 (Robozaps, Robots International, RoboticsSelect and similar) are unverified reseller/aggregator pages, not authorized channels.

Price notes: No official unit price is published for the S1. Widely circulated figures ($50,000 for "research editions," $96,000, up to $150,000) all trace to aggregator/SEO sites that explicitly label them as market estimates with no manufacturer source, and the same sites carry other clearly wrong specs, so we do not treat any of them as real. Astribot sells the S1 through enterprise cooperation orders rather than a list price. For reference (a different, cheaper product, not the S1): Astribot's newer T1 starts at 89,900 RMB (~$13,500) and is listed separately in this catalog, but that is not this robot. About the S1background, hardware and buying reality
It went viral in 2024 for a demo of fast, fluid household manipulation (pouring wine, flipping sandwiches, calligraphy, Wing Chun). Physically it is not a walking humanoid: a 3-DoF omnidirectional wheeled base (max ~2 m/s) carries a 4-DoF articulated torso that squats and reaches from floor to ~2 m, a 2-DoF head, and two 7-DoF cable-driven arms ending in parallel-jaw grippers, for 23 total DoF. Each arm holds up to 5 kg and moves at end-effector speeds of ≥10 m/s with ±0.1 mm repeatability; runtime is 4 to 6 hours. Skills are taught by VR teleoperation and imitation learning (Astribot's DuoCore-WB diffusion policy), reaching ~80% success on demonstrated tasks, and driven through a Python/ROS 2 SDK. Commercially, Astribot became a unicorn (over 10B RMB valuation, Ant Group among backers) and began delivering thousands of its cable-driven units at the end of 2025 through industrial and commercial cooperation orders. That makes the S1 real and deployed, but B2B-only: there is no public price and no consumer or self-serve order path, and the many "buy online" listings are unauthorized aggregator pages.
What it does on day onewith zero programming
Day one with zero programming it does essentially nothing useful autonomously: the S1 is a manipulation research/deployment platform whose skills come from human demonstrations. An operator can teleoperate it via a VR headset and handheld controllers to perform bimanual tasks in real time, and any pre-trained demo tasks the vendor provides can be replayed, but there is no built-in library of household or industrial chores that runs on its own without task-specific data collection and policy training.
Best for: Robotics and embodied-AI teams, manipulation research labs, and industrial/commercial integrators that want a fast, precise bimanual manipulation platform they will teach via teleoperation and imitation learning, and who can engage a Chinese manufacturer directly on an enterprise basis.
