Hands sold separatelypriced by quote
Modular end effectors are the core selling point: five-finger dexterous hands, two-finger grippers, or claws, interchangeable per task. That means an end effector is always fitted, but the dexterous hand is the upgrade, not the default. Base research units (Foxtech's KUAVO-MY, for example) ship with a mechanical gripper, while the five-finger hand (about 10 to 11 DoF per hand, roughly 113 mm finger span on the MY generation) is the paid configuration, and swapping later is another line item. Leju does not publish a standalone hand price, so the upgrade is quote-only. Confirm in writing exactly which end effector your quote covers.

Reality check
This really is running in real Chinese factories with a fully open control stack, at a price no Western full-size humanoid comes close to. But modular means you are buying a configuration, not a robot: legs, wheeled base, and each hand type are separate choices, the five-finger hands are an upgrade over the base gripper, and outside China you are importing by quote with no local support. Leju publishes no datasheet either, so even the specs move between sources (payload is quoted at 14 kg on one database and 20 kg in launch coverage), which is one more reason to get your exact build written into the quote.

You cannot order the Kuavo 5 today: it is b2b only.
Leju sells through direct enterprise relationships and pilot programs (automakers, universities, service operators). There is no consumer checkout on Leju's own site, so buying means contacting Leju or a distributor for a quote. In practice a research lab or a well-funded individual CAN reach the platform through a third party (Foxtech in the US lists the KUAVO-MY research variant for quote, and a used 4Pro has surfaced on eBay), so it is not strictly locked to corporations, but the normal path is a B2B or institutional order, not an add-to-cart purchase.

Price notes: Leju publishes no list price: a Kuavo is quoted per configuration (bipedal legs or the wheeled 5-W base, which end effectors, how many units). The one figure Leju itself has put on the record is an average selling price of 308,100 RMB per unit across the Kuavo series in 2025, down nearly 26% year on year, which is about USD 42,500 at roughly 7.25 RMB to the dollar, and that is the figure stored here. Third-party numbers bracket it rather than replace it: the humanoid.guide Kuavo-5 sheet says USD 38,000, while reporting on the volume deployments to FAW Hongqi, NIO and Haier puts a fleet unit near USD 50,000. A pre-owned previous-generation Kuavo 4Pro has appeared on eBay at roughly USD 34,500. No EUR price is published anywhere, so priceEur is null. Expect the number to keep sliding: Leju has said as much, and the Foshan line it opened with Dongfang Precision is built for 10,000 units a year.

About the Kuavo 5background, hardware and buying reality
The current Kuavo 5 and wheeled 5-W stand about 168 cm at roughly 55 kg with 40 DoF, and swap between bipedal legs and a wheeled base and between dexterous hands, grippers, and claws. This is a genuinely shipping industrial machine, not a demo: Leju delivers to FAW Hongqi, NIO, and Haier, runs a Foshan joint-venture line targeting 10,000 units a year, raised over $200M pre-IPO in 2025, and put a Kuavo on the torch route at China's 15th National Games. Its two real strengths are modularity and a fully open ROS control stack you can run in simulation before you buy. The catch for a Western buyer is access: no US or EU store, no local support, quote-and-import only, and what arrives is a teleoperable developer platform rather than an autonomous worker.
What it does on day onewith zero programming
Day one, with zero programming, it powers on into KaihongOS and can be teleoperated with a gamepad or a Meta Quest 3 headset to walk omnidirectionally (up to about 4.6 km/h), balance, climb stairs, and manipulate objects with whichever end effector is fitted. It replays Leju's library of demo and imitation-learned behaviors, and the Pangu-model integration gives you something to drive without writing a controller. What it does not do on day one is run YOUR task autonomously.
Best for: Manufacturers, automotive plants, universities, and robotics integrators who want an affordable, modular, fully open-ROS full-size humanoid for locomotion and manipulation research, imitation-learning data collection, or a factory pilot, and who have the engineering team to deploy it.
