Dexterous hands included
Full-body tiers (U1 Pro, U1 Ultra) ship with articulated bionic hands as part of the 88-DOF body, engineered with silicone skin down to fingerprints. These hands are built for expressive, human-like gesturing and touch in a companionship context, not for industrial grasping or manipulation payloads. UBTech has not published per-hand DOF or grip-force figures. The U1 Lite is a semi-torso edition, so its lower body and mobility are absent even though upper-body hands are present.

Reality check
You are buying a lifelike face and a good conversation, not a helper: it will talk with you and remember you, but it will not walk your dog or wash a dish, the software is Chinese-first, and outside mainland China there is no official channel, warranty, or support.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
The maker sells the UWORLD U1 in its home market only for now.
US authorization: We found no public FCC ID for this model. Since 28 July 2026 a foreign-made robot can be sold into the US only under an FCC authorization from before that date, so ask the seller for its FCC ID, or its Supplier's Declaration of Conformity dated before 28 July 2026, before you pay.
No delivered price: the maker does not currently ship the UWORLD U1 to United States. Ask the concierge whether a sourcing route can be opened.
No US sales channel from UBTech. Third-party reseller listings (e.g. robotsinternational.com) advertise USD prices, but these are unofficial import brokers, not authorized UBTech distribution, and carry no manufacturer warranty or support.

Sold as a consumer product in China via JD.com pre-order. Anyone in China could reserve a first-batch unit with a deposit during the pre-sale window (through July 15, 2026; deliveries began in mid-September, but UBTech's CEO expects only 1,500 to 2,000 to ship in 2026 against more than 13,400 orders, Pro first). No stated business/research gate, but there is no international sales channel yet, so "anyone" is effectively "anyone in mainland China."
Price notes: China-market pricing, three tiers (USD figures are approximate conversions from RMB and move with the exchange rate): U1 Lite (semi-torso, no legs) from 119,800 RMB (~$16,500); U1 Pro (full-body) 169,800 RMB (~$23,400); U1 Ultra (high-dynamic full-body) flagship at 990,000 RMB (~$136,500), with a second high-end configuration reported at 880,000 RMB (~$121,000). The listed priceUsd is the U1 Pro, the cheapest tier that is actually the full-body robot these specs describe; the cheaper Lite is an upper-body unit, so do not read $16,500 as the price of a walking 183 cm humanoid. Pre-order required a refundable 3,000 RMB (~$415) deposit on JD.com to hold a first-batch slot; the balance is due before delivery. UBTech named 16 September 2026 as the first shipment date, but its CEO has told investors only 1,500 to 2,000 U1 will ship in 2026 against more than 13,400 orders (the Pro first), and UBWorld's Tmall store has told buyers the first batch moved to 30 November, which UBTech disputes: most pre-orders now wait into 2027. No official EUR price exists. Unofficial reseller USD listings (Lite ~$27,500, Pro ~$35,000, Ultra ~$179,950) carry large import markups and are not UBTech pricing.

China (direct)
Official pre-sale channel for mainland China. 169,800 RMB for the full-body U1 Pro; the semi-torso U1 Lite starts at 119,800 RMB (~$16,500). A 3,000 RMB deposit reserved a first-batch slot; the pre-sale window ran through July 15, 2026, UBTech named 16 September 2026 as the first shipment date, but its CEO now expects only 1,500 to 2,000 deliveries in 2026 against more than 13,400 orders, so most pre-orders wait into 2027.

About the UWORLD U1background, hardware and buying reality
Launched June 30, 2026 in Shenzhen and pre-sold on JD.com, it wraps an 88-DOF body (male 183 cm/42 kg, female 168 cm/35.2 kg) in silicone skin with pores, veins and fingerprints, and runs an on-device emotion-aware LLM that UBTech says reads 20+ emotional states at 90%+ accuracy, remembers past conversations, and responds in about half a second with tight lip-sync. It sold in three tiers: a semi-torso U1 Lite from 119,800 RMB, a full-body U1 Pro at 169,800 RMB, and a high-dynamic U1 Ultra flagship near 990,000 RMB. UBTech documents no household task for it: this is a lifelike conversational presence, aimed at companionship, elder care, reception, exhibitions and psychological-support use cases, not a general-purpose worker.
What it does on day onewith zero programming
Powered on, it holds spoken conversation in Chinese, tracks you with camera-driven gaze and lifelike facial expressions, recognizes 20+ emotional states (UBTech claims 90%+ accuracy) and responds within about 500 ms with sub-20 ms lip-sync. It remembers past interactions via an on-device memory OS and offers proactive, wake-word-free companionship. UBTech documents no chores, object fetching or physical work for it.
Best for: A China-based buyer who wants a lifelike, always-on conversational companion (companionship, elder care, reception/hospitality presence, or psychological-support settings) and specifically values realistic appearance and emotional interaction over any ability to do physical work.
