Reality check
This is the R1 you can actually code, but the one-hour battery and configuration-dependent hardware mean extra equipment depends on the work you plan to do.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
Configuration: R1 EDU Standard
Yes, with work: importable into United States.
US authorization: FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU010, granted 22 June 2026: authorized before the 28 July 2026 cutoff for foreign-made robots, so it can still be imported and sold in the US.
Optional hands are excluded until a seller quotes them. Spare batteries and other accessories are excluded. Confirm compatibility and pricing with the seller.

Price notes: Unitree direct lists R1 EDU Standard at $10,500 before freight and tax. The store does not equate Standard with every reseller U1 bundle; confirm compute and accessories. US-fulfilled reseller pricing (import and warranty baked in) runs higher: RoboStore US lists the U1 at $15,950 with Pro tiers from $18,900 up to ~$32,000. quadruped.de (DE): U1 EUR 12,200 up to U6 EUR 27,000 excl. VAT (available from 28.12.2026). Generation Robots (FR): Edu Standard EUR 14,000 excl. VAT (EUR 16,800 incl.), Edu Smart EUR 15,700 excl., checked 5 Oct 2026; its EUR 8,400 excl. entry on the same page is the non-programmable R1 Basic. Higher tiers add compute, DOF, and optional dexterous hands.
Links marked commission link are affiliate links: if you buy through one, Robots International pays HumanoidStore a share of the sale, at no cost to you. Which sellers we list, their order, and everything we say about a machine are decided without regard to it.

What it does on day onewith zero programming
Same remote-control walking and voice/vision demos as the consumer R1, plus it is immediately developable: high- and low-level programming, ROS2, and Isaac Sim support. Nothing autonomous until you build it.
Best for: Universities and startups that want a compact programmable humanoid with configurable compute.

Unitree lists secondary development and optional dexterous hands only on the R1 EDU, with open joint and sensor interfaces and simulation platform support.
The EDU Standard ships without hands, so dexterous hands and a high-power compute module are extras quoted by sales, and battery life is about 1 hour.
Source reviewed 2026-10-05Assessment from published documentation, not an independent performance test. Applies to the configuration described above.
