Grippers, not dexterous hands
Two RH-P12-RN grippers are part of the robot (1 DOF each, two-finger adaptive design, 500 g, 5 kg gripper payload, detachable fingertips). ROBOTIS lists its dexterous finger actuator as in development and sells HX5-D20 hands separately, backordered on the US store at last check. Its spec page does not say HX5-D20 hands are a supported swap on the SG2.

Reality check
At $69,000 you get a capable open research body with a leader arm and 2-finger grippers but no skills: every task needs demonstrations you record and a policy you train, and the US sale is made to order, about 8 weeks, Americas only, with shipping settled by email.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
Configuration: FFW-SG2
Yes: a seller in the United States lists it, so you buy it without importing it yourself.
US authorization: We found no public FCC ID for this model. Since 28 July 2026 a foreign-made robot can be sold into the US only under an FCC authorization from before that date, so ask the seller for its FCC ID, or its Supplier's Declaration of Conformity dated before 28 July 2026, before you pay.
The maker publishes no price for the AI Worker, so there is no import estimate to United States. A seller in the United States does list it, and that price is the delivered figure here.

ROBOTIS America sells to buyers in North, Central and South America through a public web store with no stated business or institution requirement. The robot is marketed to industrial and research teams, and ROBOTIS asks buyers to email for a quote and lead time.
Price notes: ROBOTIS America (US store, ships to the Americas only): FFW-SG2 mobile edition $69,000.00, made to order, standard 8 week lead time, ships from ROBOTIS in Korea, import tariffs included in the price, shipping calculated at checkout (the page also says to email america@robotis.com for a quote). No other edition is listed on the US store. ROBOTIS Korea store (KRW, VAT included, quotes via sales1@robotis.com): FFW-BG2 stationary edition 52,800,000 won and FFW-SG2 79,200,000 won, so the stationary BG2 is the cheaper edition (two thirds of the SG2 price in Korea). ROBOTIS docs say the BG2 is sold in Korea only, so the mobile SG2 is the headline configuration. ROBOTIS Japan e-shop: price and lead time 'contact us'. Generation Robots (France): 'From EUR 64,800.00 VAT incl.' (EUR 54,000.00 VAT excl.) with FFW-BG2 and FFW-SG2 in a version selector, but it is a price-on-application listing with Add to cart disabled and it does not say which edition the From price covers. Five-finger HX5-D20 hands are extra: $7,703.85 per hand on ROBOTIS America (left and right are separate items, page says backordered with extended lead time), EUR 6,960.00 VAT incl. at Generation Robots, JPY 893,400 before tax per hand at the Japan e-shop. US sales tax is not mentioned on the page. The US price already includes the import tariff, so the catalog does not import it a second time for a US buyer. Checked 17 Oct 2026.

About the AI Workerbackground, hardware and buying reality
The AI Worker (repository name FFW, for Freedom From Work) comes from ROBOTIS, the Seoul maker of DYNAMIXEL actuators, and launched in July 2025. The mobile FFW-SG2 is 162 cm tall and 90 kg, with two 7-DOF arms (641 mm reach, 3 kg nominal and 5 kg peak per arm), 1-DOF grippers, a 2-DOF head, a 0 to 500 mm lift and a swerve base that drives at 1.5 m/s. It carries a ZED Mini head camera, two RealSense D405 wrist cameras, two LiDARs and a Jetson AGX Orin 32GB, and runs on a 2,040 Wh battery (ROBOTIS says up to 6 hours). A stationary FFW-BG2 (19 DOF, 85 kg, mains powered) exists but ROBOTIS says it is sold in Korea only. Outside the Americas and Korea it is a quote request.
What it does on day onewith zero programming
Teleoperation with the included FFW-LG2 leader device, plus the web GUI for recording demonstrations. No pre-trained task skills are stated as shipping on the robot, so autonomous behavior starts only after you record data and train a policy.
Best for: Research and industrial R&D teams in the Americas that want an open ROS 2 bimanual platform with a built-in teleoperation and imitation-learning workflow.
Documented uses
Robotics R&DManipulation research
ROBOTIS documents ROS 2 joint-level control and a leader-arm demonstration, LeRobot training and inference pipeline for the AI Worker's arms and grippers.
