Reality check
The $29,900 headline is a bare China price on a locked demo unit: add import, duty, VAT, hands, and the EDU upgrade before it does anything but dance on a remote.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
Yes: a seller in the United States lists it, so you buy it without importing it yourself.
US authorization: FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU012, granted 30 June 2026: authorized before the 28 July 2026 cutoff for foreign-made robots, so it can still be imported and sold in the US.
Spare batteries and other accessories are excluded. Confirm compatibility and pricing with the seller.

About 40% on China-origin collected today: the 2.5% MFN base, 25% Section 301 List 1, and the 12.5% Section 301 forced-labor duty effective 24 Jul 2026 with no expiry. It began the same morning the 10% Section 122 surcharge lapsed, so the total rose from about 37.5% rather than falling to 27.5%. Confirm the live rate before ordering. Price notes: Unitree direct: $29,900 (effectively an ex-works China price: excludes shipping, ~1.7% EU duty, VAT, and warranty). US: Toborlife (Unitree's official US partner) sells the H2 Basic at $39,900 with Add to Cart and free 3-5 day US shipping (checked 3 Oct 2026); RoboStore commercial build $40,900. EU: quadruped.de EUR 42,000 excl. VAT; reichelt EUR 49,800 incl. VAT (B2B only). The base model cannot run custom code; that needs the H2 EDU.

What it does on day onewith zero programming
Remote-controlled walking and motion demos (launch videos show dancing and martial arts). Binocular cameras and a mic array. Not autonomous and not programmable at this tier: a full-size demo machine.
Best for: Buyers who want an affordable full-size humanoid for shows and demos, or a starting point toward the EDU.
What it takes to developskills, gear, and SDK access
None usable at this tier (remote control only). Developers must buy the H2 EDU.
SDK access: Locked: only the EDU version supports secondary development. No SDK/API on base or commercial builds.
