Grippers, not dexterous hands
Fixed dummy hands, no wrists. Dexterous hands cannot be added because the base has no secondary development; buyers wanting hands must buy the EDU.

Reality check
It walks beautifully out of the box, but the base G1 is a sealed demo unit: no hands, no code, no way to ever unlock it, so if you plan to develop, only the EDU counts.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
Yes: a seller in the United States lists it, so you buy it without importing it yourself.
US authorization: FCC ID 2A5PE-YUSHU008, granted 3 March 2025: authorized before the 28 July 2026 cutoff for foreign-made robots, so it can still be imported and sold in the US.
Spare batteries and other accessories are excluded. Confirm compatibility and pricing with the seller.

About 40% on China-origin collected today: the 2.5% MFN base, 25% Section 301 List 1, and the 12.5% Section 301 forced-labor duty effective 24 Jul 2026 with no expiry. It began the same morning the 10% Section 122 surcharge lapsed, so the total rose from about 37.5% rather than falling to 27.5%. Confirm the live rate before ordering. What it does on day onewith zero programming
Genuinely usable day one as a remote-controlled demo robot: preloaded walking on slopes and steps, gestures, self-righting, and LiDAR obstacle avoidance from the included gamepad. No task autonomy, no voice assistant, and no programming possible.
Best for: Buyers who want an impressive, reliable walking humanoid for demos, events, and showrooms.
Documented uses
Demo / showpiece
The standard G1 is sold as a demonstration configuration.
Unitree excludes custom development on this edition. Research requires a separate G1 EDU purchase.
Source reviewed 2026-09-09Assessment from published documentation, not an independent performance test. Applies to the configuration described above.
What it takes to developskills, gear, and SDK access
None usable at this tier; it is a showcase unit, not a development platform. Anything more requires the G1 EDU.
SDK access: Hard-locked: no SDK, no API, no way to run custom code. Development requires the separate G1 EDU line.
