Reality check
This is the G1 you actually program, but the sticker is just the entrance fee: add a GPU workstation, hands, and a person who knows ROS2, or it sits in the crate.
Can you get one, and what will it cost?
A planning estimate with machine, freight, duty, and tax shown separately.
Yes: a seller in the EU lists it, so you buy it without importing it yourself.
The maker publishes no price for the G1 EDU, so there is no import estimate to Germany. A seller in the EU does list it, and that price is the delivered figure here.

Sold openly, though buyers are overwhelmingly labs, universities, and robotics companies.
Price notes: Unitree sells the EDU by quote and publishes no price, so the headline is the cheapest EU entry price and no delivered estimate is built from a reseller price. US (RoboStore): EDU Standard U1 $43,900, rising to ~$73,900 for the top Ultimate config with Inspire hands. EU (Generation Robots): from EUR 39,000 incl. tax; quadruped.de prices the EDU tiers from EUR 31,500 (EDU-U1) up to EUR 59,959 (EDU-U6) excl. 19% VAT, i.e. EUR 8,500-36,959 on top of the EUR 23,000 basic; EUR 31,500 excl. VAT is about EUR 37,500 incl., which is what the Generation Robots EUR 39,000 incl. entry tier corresponds to. RobotLAB lists a development-ready config at $23,700. EU EDU pricing runs cheaper than US list for equivalent tiers.
Links marked commission link are affiliate links: if you buy through one, Robots International pays HumanoidStore a share of the sale, at no cost to you. Which sellers we list, their order, and everything we say about a machine are decided without regard to it.

What it does on day onewith zero programming
Same remote-control demo set as the base G1 (walking, gestures, self-righting) so it works day one, but the real value needs programming: full high/low-level SDK, a deployable open-source manipulation model, and onboard Jetson.
Best for: Labs and companies doing real locomotion or manipulation research who need the SDK and onboard compute.
Documented uses
Robotics R&D
Unitree identifies the EDU edition as its configuration for custom development.
Confirm SDK scope and compute on the exact EDU quote. Hands and application software are not included in every configuration.
Source reviewed 2026-09-09Assessment from published documentation, not an independent performance test. Applies to the configuration described above.
What it takes to developskills, gear, and SDK access
A serious robotics stack: Linux + ROS2, Python/C++, ideally an NVIDIA GPU workstation for RL training and Isaac Sim, plus teleop gear for data collection.
SDK access: Fully unlocked: Python, C++, ROS2, high-level locomotion and low-level joint control, with an onboard Jetson Orin NX. The only G1 tier with secondary development.
